How deep do you grind the stump?
Typically six to twelve inches below grade, deeper if you plan to replant or pour a slab in that spot. Tell us what is going there and we will grind to suit.
What happens to the grindings?
We can rake the chips back into the hole and dome it off, or haul the material away and leave the void ready for topsoil. Hauling is quoted as an add-on.
Do you grind the surface roots too?
Visible surface roots running off the stump can be ground as well. That is quoted separately because it adds time and wear.
How much does stump grinding cost in St. Johns County?
Price is driven by stump diameter at grade, how many you have, and whether the machine can reach the stump or has to be hand-walked through a gate. Multiple stumps on one visit are much cheaper per stump.
Can I plant grass or a new tree afterwards?
Yes. Once the void is filled with clean topsoil you can sod or seed right away. For a replacement tree, grind deeper and remove the chips so the new root ball sits in real soil.
Do you offer free estimates?
Yes — and in many cases we can give you an estimate right over the phone. Just send us the property address or zip code along with a few close-up and far-away photos so we can see:
- Tree height — include the sky so we can gauge scale
- Tree size — how wide is the base of the trunk
- Tree location — front yard, side yard, or backyard
- Access — is there a gate, fence, vehicles, or anything else in the way
With that information we can often price it remotely. If not, we'll come out to see it in person.
Do you have a service minimum?
Yes. Our tree trimming starts at $675 and tree removal starts at $850. If these price points are not in your budget, we are not the company for you.
